Of course, if you wish to stay put, you can explore Narrabeen lakes, as well as many of the surrounding northern beaches.

A short distance from the northern side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Lane Cove National Park is a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the wilderness Sydney has to offer. If you’re keen to camp in the bush while still remaining close to Sydney’s centre, the Lane Cove River Tourist Park is perfect. You can choose from powered and non-powered sites and grass or concrete sites, with kitchens, BBQs, hot showers, laundries, Wi-Fi and swimming pools available.

The Blue Mountains is one of the most characteristic travel destinations in Sydney and whether you’re a tourist or a local, the scenery here is breathtaking. There are several places to park your campervan here, including Katoomba Falls Caravan Park and Blackheath Caravan Park. Both parks offer amenities such as powered sites, showers, bathrooms, camp kitchens, Wi-Fi and laundries.

If you’re heading to the Blue Mountains, Jenolan Caves is only 1 hour away and definitely worth a visit, too. The caravan park here is located in the heart of Oberon, where you’ll also find shops and cafes. The park has large, powered and non-powered sites for vans and also offers kitchen facilities and bathrooms. Campervan drivers should check before booking as to whether their specific campervan will be able to take the road down to the actual caves; if not, you’ll need to leave your campervan at the campsite and organise another form of transport to get there.

If you’re heading northwest of Sydney, the Sydney Hills Holiday Park will situate you in the heart of bushy Dural, while also keeping you close to the Sydney CBD (which is about 40 mins away). From here, you can discover nearby attractions like the Galston Gorge or the Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park, head across to the northern beaches or head west towards either the Blue Mountains or the Hawkesbury River.

The Royal National Park is located less than an hour’s drive south of Sydney and it’s a beautiful spot to stay. The campground here is located at Bonnie Vale, in the north of the park. Campervanners can take advantage of toilets, hot showers and even a swimming spot. However, the sites here are unpowered and due to National Park regulations, campers should note that bookings are essential.
