West Edmonton Mall is the fifth largest shopping mall in the world, and the largest one in North America as of to date. Ghermezian brothers who founded the mall came from Iran and migrated to Edmonton in 1959. Since it's opening in 1981, several reconstructions and expansions were made to fit the growing number of fascinated visitors who come daily to the mall. West Edmonton Mall now takes pride in its major attractions such as Galaxyland, World Waterpark, Ice Palace, Sea Lions Rock, and the Professor WEM Adventure Golf. Galaxyland attracts the most visitors among all the other attractions, as it features 24 rides and several other gaming options. Shopping is not a prerequisite while inside West Edmonton Mall, but if you're up for a purchase, there are over 800 stores to choose from.
