Edmonton, Alberta T5R 5R1
Edmonton has a whole lot of diversity when it comes to city attractions, and one of these is the Valley Zoo. Edmonton Valley Zoo was a replacement for Borden Park Zoo, which was torn down to expand the Northlands Park. On July 1, 1959, the park officially opened to the public and has been engaging visitors to a resounding wildlife experience. More than 350 animals are retained inside, much more, taken care of. Valley Zoo focuses more on preserving the animals, and introduces a number of educational programs for visitors to take part with. Observe animals in their natural habitat, or volunteer to be a part of the team instead. The zoo is open year-round, with a winter shelter to house animals such as birds, mammals, reptiles, and fishes. Considered as a child-friendly environment, Edmonton Valley Zoo has plenty of hands-on activities to try for all ages: pony and camel rides, a merry-go-round, a miniature train, and a children's zoo.
