Myra Canyon Trestles

4675 June Springs Road Kelowna, British Columbia V1W4C8

Myra Canyon is a wide canyon located at the foothills of Purcell Mountains, with 18 trestles that lead to scenic and historic routes. The original Myra Canyon section of the Kettle Valley Railway were engineered in the middle of 1912 and 1914. The railway bed is known for being a great route for cyclists and hikers, providing a refreshing breeze that displaces toward the valley below. However, in September 3, 2003, 12 wooden trestles of the Myra Canyon were ravaged by fire, infamously known as the Okanagan Mountain Park wildfire. After the incident greatly affected the tourism and historical aspects of the trestles, a committee was established to restore the grandiose of the fallen Myra Canyon. June of 2008 commemorates the re-opening of Myra Canyon, highlighting its majestic high routes, restored trestles, and dark tunnels. Now it delivers a recreational spectacle for adventure-seeking, mountain-climbing and energy-fueled individuals.
