Who knew Stanley Park had an aquarium with 7,000 different marine species? Vancouver Aquarium, located within the park's premises, is a public entertainment for everyone; a place for marine research, conservation and marine animal rehabilitation. It first opened in 1956, with humble beginnings of a mere seven staff members. But as the years passed, it grew popular with its Animal Encounters and behind the scenes program with an Aquarium trainer. Apart from that, the aquarium is home to a 4D theatre where you can learn a lot about the ocean and its life. In its prime, the aquarium has accentuated its desire to educate the public instead of just doing marine shows. Vancouver Aquarium is now considered a home to Beluga Whales, exotic fishes, sea otters, tropical fishes, dolphins, and the famous Orca (Killer Whale). Whether you're after photo opportunities with sea creatures or a day of learning about the aquatic life, Vancouver Aquarium is sure to give you all that.
