Miracles, whether you believe it or not, have been known to take place inside the Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre. Upon entering the church, you'll see a couple of crutches, canes, braces, and other signs of disabilities, lining along the two pillars of the basilica. This is due to the fact that the shrine was dedicated to Saint Anne, the grandmother of Jesus, and was known for making miracles herself. But aside from this miraculous phenomenon, numerous masterpieces are housed inside, too. Visitors can find paintings, mosaics, stained-glass windows, stone, and wooden sculptures each vying for attention, and because of the popularity of the basilica to pilgrims, it has been enlarged several times in its lifetime. Discover the historical significance of Saint Anne, as you uncover the role she played in the lives of the people in Quebec.
