Tāwharanui is New Zealand’s first open sanctuary integrating conservation, recreation and farming. There are two campgrounds on the northern coast of Tawharanui Regional Park. Tawharanui East Campground is a tent only campground with a capacity of 200 persons, and Tawharanui West Campground is an all modes (up to 8 metres in length) campground with a capacity of 60 persons.
