Miami Climate

It is always warm in Miami, even in winter! High humidity comes during summer, bringing along the most rainfall. Winters are short and dry, and when the weather is this good, you can expect to have a great time outdoors.

Hurricanes In Miami

Miami is vulnerable to being hit by hurricanes because of its geographical location. Hurricane season is between June to November, although Miami is most likely to get hit during the Cape Verde season in mid-August to September. If you are planning to travel during these months, always check the weather updates on Hurricane Central.

School Holidays In Miami

The summer holidays are usually between late July to early September. There are week-long breaks in early April (for Easter), in late May and late December (for Christmas).

In Florida, Susan B. Anthony Day is celebrated on February 15 and the Day After Thanksgiving (usually the fourth Friday of November) is also observed. You can also read more on Public Holidays In The USA.

Still need help deciding on your travel dates? Here's a guide to the Seasons In Miami.

Summer

June marks the beginning of the wet season, when the humidity gives way to frequent rainfall. This continues until July and August, so be sure to pack a rain jacket along with your hat and sunscreen.

Autumn

It is still hot and humid in September, but the temperature gradually lowers in October and November. There is less rainfall during these months, although you might want to bring a rain jacket just in case. Hats, sunglasses and the obligatory sunscreen need to be in your bags as well.

Winter

Expect the city and the beaches to be packed in December; it's holiday season and getting flights and accommodations will be difficult if you haven't made reservations. Although the weather is just right during Winter, the evenings can get rather cool in January and February, so pack a few warm clothes with your hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.

Spring

The days are warm, the nights are comfortably cool; that's why almost everyone wants to be in Miami during Spring. Make sure to visit in March and April, before the heat rises again in May. Don't go camping without your hats and sunscreen. To make sure you don't miss a thing, download our USA Camping Checklist.
