The summer holidays are between July to August. Students get two weeks off in mid October and in late December (for Christmas). There are also week long breaks in late March (for Spring).

You can look forward to great camping weather in June, when the temperature is not yet too high. July and August gives way to hot and humid days as well as several festivals. Make sure you have a hat, sunglasses and plenty of sunscreen while enjoying Chicago's outdoor summer events.
There are still plenty to do and see in Chicago during Autumn. September and October still has some warm days, however the nights are much cooler so pack plenty of warm clothing. In November, the temperature dips to the high 40's, a sign that Winter is just around the corner.
Have we mentioned that it is cold in Winter? This doesn't seem to deter holidaying tourists, who still come wrapped in layers of warm clothes during December. January is the coolest month and February can still be close to freezing, so bring a warm winter jacket to keep the chill away.
Spring in Chicago can be unpredictable. Although March still holds a remainder of the winter's coolness, April and May can get warm days, an occasional rainfall and chilly evenings. Bring a rain jacket, warm clothes and even sunscreen, just in case the sun is out.
