The Route 66 Tour via I-40 W (Dallas to Los Angeles) (Part I)

Spend your first day in Dallas. For your first stop, you can head over to Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens located along Garland Road. Spend a relaxing day in Wichita Falls, the 178 acre Lucy Park is a great place to have a picnic with the whole family. You can follow the scenic walk trail that will lead you to The Falls, a 54 foot man-made waterfalls. Looking for some adventure? try the Wee-Chi-Ta Mountain Bike Trail, this13 miles of biking fun was voted as the best urban off-road trail in the State of Texas.

Your first stop in the historical US Route 66 is made interesting by Cadillac Ranch, where a series of 10 used Caddies with quirky grafitti are buried nose-first in the ground. Then take the challenge at the Big Texan Steak Ranch, where you can get a world-famous 72oz. (4.5 lbs) steak dinner for free if you can finish it in only one hour.

Spend your  next day exploring Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, the largest history museum in texas covering 26,000 sqaure miles on foot. Other favorite attractions in Amarillo includes the historic Route 66 district and the nearby Palo Duro Canyon State Park.

You'll find Tucumcari as you continue down I-40, where you'll find the eye-catching Blue Swallow Motel. Take a trip down memory lane as you learn about history of Tucumcari at the Historical Museum or have your photo taken at one of Route 66 Roadside Attractions.
