This historic spot between the Hill Country and the rolling plains started as a military outpost, Fort Concho, to protect the settlers as they moved West after the Civil War. The campground is located in a quiet area near Lake Nasworthy and offers a variety of wildlife from the famous Texas Horned Toad to White Tail Deer feeding at the back of the park.
