Like most major US cities, New York is a year-round tourist destination so you can visit anytime you want. If you are coming over during the peak season (September to December), it is best to make early reservations on RV Park stay and motorhome hire. The term “off-season” doesn't seem to make sense in Las Vegas; visitors arrive in droves all year. Make sure you've pre-booked your accommodations and motorhome rental before coming over for your self-drive holiday. The warm weather starts in June, although the temperature is at its highest in July and August. Humidity can also result in rainfall, so make sure you have a rain jacket to go with your sunscreen.
You can look forward to warm days and pleasantly cool nights in September and October. Autumn has great camping weather, and don't forget to bring warm clothes for the evenings. You can also bring the children to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in November.
The temperature dips to the low 40's in December, so make sure you've packed plenty of warm clothing. The off-season starts in January, which also happens to be the coldest month in New York. If you can stand the cold in February, you can take advantage of cheaper rates on just about anything.
March and April bring in slightly warmer weather and the occasional rainfall. Spring becomes obvious in May, when the days are mild and the weather is perfect for camping. Pack warm clothes for the cool evenings and a rain jacket, just in case.
