The Beaches of Byron Bay

A bustling beach located set in front of Byron Bay’s city centre, Main Beach is a popular spot patrolled by lifeguards and located close to shops, bars, restaurants and cafes. The Wreck

Belongil Beach

Stretching for 2.5km, Belongil Beach is a dynamic, rugged beach that runs from the mouth of Belongil Creek to the centre of Byron. Beware the north end of this beach, however, where swimming suits are optional! Watego's & Little Watego’s

Identifiable by a sheltered picnic area that’s filled with facilities, including free barbeque areas, Watego’s Beach is a family friendly destination. During the day, you can enjoy kayaking with curious dolphins and at night, the beach offers an exciting nightlife, including cinemas, restaurants and bars.

A gateway to Byron Bay’s famed Cape Byron Lighthouse, Little Watego’s Beach is an intimate, quiet beach ideal for couples looking for a romantic backdrop. A twilight stroll on Little Watego’s wooden footpath leads you to the lighthouse and provides a stunning view of Byron Bay’s setting sun.

Cosy Corner

Lying at the foot of Arakwal National Park, Cosy Corner presents a smorgasbord of natural beauty and adventure. Guided tours are available through Arakwal, giving visitors the chance to experience Byron Bay’s diverse flora and fauna.

Tallow Beach

Anglers will struggle to find a more fruitful fishing spot in Byron than Tallow Beach. This dog-friendly beach is the most secluded, with few facilities available. Tallow Beach campground is located on the beach as well and is perfect for camper-vanners.

Clarkes Beach

With its strong northerly winds, Clarkes Beach is an ideal playground for windsurfers and paragliders. If you’re stopping by in winter, you also might catch sight of some visiting humpback whales! The North Coast Holiday Parks on this beach is also a great place to park your campervan.

The Pass

Having the most sought after break on the north coast has turned The Pass into a surfing heaven. Swimming, snorkelling and diving activities are available here as well, as are whale watching cruises.
