6 Gloucester Avenue Devonport, Tasmania 7310
Don't mistake Maritime Museum for a house. It's not, cause it's something more. Located in old harbour master's residence near the Mersey River, Maritime Museum is filled with collections on Tasmanian and Local maritime history. It hoards a lot of historical paraphernalia, model ships, flags and some photographs of warships. Other rooms may surprise you for having exhibits on ropeworks, ironworks, diving dresses, whaling gears, and machineries. But the salient feature of the museum are the model collection of passenger ships dating back from 1830 to the modern ones. Nearby is the controversial bronze sculpture of the Spirit of the Sea, which of course is perfect for an outdoor snap while in Devonport.
