It is within walking distance of the cafes, restaurants, galleries, antique shops and other attractions of central Castlemaine and close to the railway station for arrival and departure by rail or to access the Victorian Goldfields Tourist Railway for steam train rides between Castlemaine and Maldon.

It is an ideal starting point for walking or mountain biking on the many tracks and trails including the Great Dividing Trail which pass through box-ironbark forests and heritage goldmining areas, where there is still plenty of gold to be found. It is handy to the local motocross tracks and sporting venues within the town.
