Kings Park and Botanic Gardens is the green heart of Perth, larger than New York's Central Park. It covers a land area of 400.6 hectares, there's a lot of walking, picnicking and flaura discovering just 15 minutes away from the centre. About two thirds of the park encompasses 319 breeds of native plants and about 80 species of birds. The Reason why Kings Park attracts atleast 6 million of visitors a year is, its simply beautiful and relaxed. Its location beside Swan River and Perth's district turned it to a Grande, a grande of pleasantness. The fact is, the world regard Kings Park as the biggest inner city park.
The history traces back to the time of the Whadjuk tribe, when they come to meet in the park for their ceremonial and cultural agendas. In 1985, it was called "The Perth Park". Then in 1901, it was changed to "Kings Park" in honor of King Edward VII. Later in 1965 was the beginning of The Kings Park Festival, that has now developed into a month long of celebration.
